Fil-Canadian passenger arrested at NAIA 1 over rape raps
A 66-year-old Filipino-Canadian was arrested upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Wednesday for rape cases pending before a Pampanga court, the Philippine National Police’s Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) said.
In a statement, the PNP-AVSEGROUP said the suspect arrived from Vancouver, Canada and is a resident of Nueva Ecija.
Personnel of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office and the PNP AVSEGROUP NAIA Police Station (NPS) 1 coordinated with immigration authorities to monitor the passenger’s arrival.
“Upon arrival of the aircraft at the NAIA Terminal 1 arrival area, the suspect, a Filipino-Canadian national and resident of Nueva Ecija, was intercepted and escorted to NPS 1 for the joint service of the warrants of arrest,” police said.
The suspect was served with two non-bailable arrest warrants issued in 2023 by a Regional Trial Court in Angeles City, Pampanga.
The arrest was recorded using a body-worn camera or alternative device following official rules.
The suspect was later turned over to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office.
“This operation reflects our firm commitment to strong inter-agency coordination to ensure that individuals with serious criminal warrants are swiftly apprehended and held accountable under the law,” said Police Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome Jr., director of the PNP-AVSEGROUP. — JMA, GMA News
