Arrested carnapping suspect also wanted for attempted murder, drug charges
A man who was recently arrested by the Pasig City Police for carnapping was found to also have an arrest warrant for attempted murder.
“Pagkahuli nagkaroon tayo ng record check at nagpag-alaman na meron siyang existing warrant arrest sa attempted murder at violation ng 9165,” Pasig City Chief of Police P/Col. Hendrix Mangaldan said in the exclusive report of Emil Sumangil on 24 Oras on Tuesday.
(After he was caught, a record check revealed he has an existing arrest warrant for attempted murder and possession of illegal drugs.)
The suspect, who allegedly committed the carnapping when he was a minor, is now of a legal age. He was arrested while playing basketball at Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City.
According to the report, the suspect left Pasig City and had just returned on the assumption that he would no longer be chased by authorities.
Police said the suspect had altered his appearance—he gained weight and changed his hairstyle.
“Napag-alamanan natin na may ongoing trial ito sa carnapping case na kinakaharap… Mabubuhay itong warrant of arrest niya sa attempted murder, 9165 may schedule ang kaniyang hearing upang harapin ang kaso na hinaharap sa korte,” Mangaldan said.
(We learned he is facing an ongoing trial for the carnapping case. His arrest warrant for attempted murder will be updated, he has a schedule for a hearing that he will face before the court.)
As of writing, the suspect has made no comment regarding the allegations against him. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/RF, GMA News
