P6.4M in suspected drugs found in inbound parcels at Pasay mail facility

Authorities on Tuesday intercepted five abandoned inbound parcels containing suspected illegal drugs at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In a statement on Thursday, the PNP said the interdiction operation was carried out on May 26, 2026 by the intelligence and interdiction personnel of various government agencies, including the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The parcels were flagged during routine X-ray screening and further subjected to manual examination and K-9 inspection.

Authorities discovered various suspected illegal drugs concealed in declared items such as canned goods, boxed products, and other packages.

The seized items include suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) or Ecstasy, marijuana kush, cocaine, ketamine, Ecstasy tablets, and other unidentified substances with an estimated street value of P6.4 million.

The parcels – which originated from addresses in Canada and France – were abandoned and were reportedly consigned to several individuals in Pampanga and Cagayan de Oro.

“Patuloy ang ating pinaigting na operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga, lalo na sa mga entry points ng bansa. Ang ganitong tagumpay ay bunga ng maayos na pagtutulungan ng ating mga ahensya. Hindi tayo titigil – serbisyo at proteksyon para sa bawat Pilipino ang ating prayoridad,” said PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

(Our intensified operations against illegal drugs especially at the country’s entry points are ongoing. This accomplishment is the fruit of cooperation of our agencies. We will not stop – our priority is service and protection for each Filipino.)

The recovered substances were turned over to the PDEA for proper laboratory examination and legal disposition. — JMA, GMA News
