An 11-month-old infant was found dead inside a sack in a house along Ilang-Ilang Street in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, Quezon City.

According to Katrina Son’s report on “Balitanghali” on Tuesday, a 26-year-old woman reported to authorities last May 29 that the child she was taking care of had been abducted by two men, one of whom was allegedly the infant’s father.

“Yung alaga niyang bata na 11 months is may dalawang lalaking kumuha. Ayon sa kanyang kwento, kukunin daw niya yung kanyang anak kasi ayaw ipakita ng nanay," said Police Station 16 commander Police Lt. Col. Timothy Aniway Jr.

(The 11-month-old child she was babysitting was allegedly taken by two men. According to her account, one of them said he would take the child because the mother refused to let him see the baby.)

"Kinuha, nilagay sa balikat, tinalukbungan ng itim na jacket, then umalis sila,” he added.

(They took the child, carried the baby on their shoulder, covered it with a black jacket, and then left.)

However, the woman’s claim was later debunked after authorities found no evidence of two men in CCTV footage from the area.

The infant’s mother, who is abroad, also told police that the father is in the province. She added that the child had been under the care of her cousin’s wife.

Authorities later returned to the house, but the woman supposedly hesitated to open the door for them.

“Nung pagbukas, may amoy na. May naamoy na kami. Hanggang sa tinanong namin siya, ‘Wala ka bang naamoy?’ Napaiyak siya, sabi niya nandoon sa taas yung bata,” Aniway said.

(When the door was opened, there was already an odor. We could already smell something. We asked her, ‘Don’t you smell anything?’ She cried and confessed that the child was upstairs.)

Police later went upstairs and found the infant’s body inside a sack.

The suspect also claimed that the victim’s five-year-old sibling had allegedly slammed the infant’s head against a wall on May 29.

She further alleged that she carried the infant’s body and accidentally dropped it.

She then placed the body inside a plastic bag before sealing it inside the sack.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. The suspect is set to face charges of murder and perjury.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA News
