Ateneo university appoints spokesperson on policies, programs

Ateneo de Manila University has appointed Fr. Raymund Benedict “RB” Hizon as spokesperson, according to a memorandum signed and issued Friday by ADMU President Fr. Roberto Yap.

With the approval of Ateneo’s Board of Trustees, Hizon was designated as the official representative of Ateneo in “crisis and emergency communications, and facilitating media interviews and press conferences.”

As university spokesperson, Hizon is authorized to communicate institutional positions, policies, programs, and responses to public concerns and issues.

Based on the memorandum, the spokesperson will be working under the supervision of the University president and in coordination with relevant university offices, depending on the situation or issue, and provide accurate, timely, and consistent dissemination of information to stakeholders, media organizations, government agencies, alumni, and the general public.

Hizon currently serves as the Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs, a position he will retain while serving as spokesperson.

"With the creation of the Response and Reform Committee, I have requested Fr. RB to lead in implementing transparent and supportive communication across our faculty, administrators, staff, and students," said Yap in the memorandum.

“As we navigate this difficult period in our university and continue to ask God for wisdom and light, let us keep Fr RB in our prayers and extend to him our complete support as he assumes these expanded duties,” he added. — BAP, GMA News
