Two electrical poles collapse in Navotas injuring two and causing power outage

Two persons were injured after two electrical posts on a bridge in Navotas collapsed last night, which also caused power outage in some houses and a hospital in Tondo, Manila, according to the report of Katrina Son in "State of the Nation."

A few minutes after 7 p.m. on Monday, two electrical posts along Marala bridge fell in North Bay Boulevard at the boundary of Navotas City and the City of Manila.

The incident caused power outage in nearby Tondo Medical Center and some houses in Navotas and in Balut, Tondo in Manila.

A Meralco engineer told GMA News that the incident has been isolated and that only one transformer needed repair.

Efforts are being made to restore power to Tondo Medical Center as soon as possible and other affected areas.

The cause of the pole collapse is still being investigated.

The bridge was closed to motorists while repairs continued. So, motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

According to the Navotas Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, two people were injured in the incident. One was brought to the Tondo Medical Center, the other casualty was brought to the Philippine Orthopedic Center. — BAP, GMA News
