QC denies permit extension for Iglesia Ni Cristo rally, cites EDSA disruption

The Quezon City government has decided not to extend the permit granted to the Iglesia ni Cristo for their rally at the EDSA-White Plains area.

In a statement, the QC Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) said the protesters have caused inconvenience to the public, with thousands coming late to work or school

The QC government also said the protesters violated the terms of their rally permit, which required them to remain on White Plains Avenue and not on the main thoroughfare, EDSA.

“Iginagalang natin ang kalayaan sa pagtitipon at pagpahayag ng damdamin, nguni't hindi ito maaaring makasagabal sa kapakanan ng nakararami,” the QC DPOS said.

The marchers ended their program at 8 p.m., the time when they should disperse according to their permit. –NB, GMA News
