The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the tricycle driver who was caught on camera driving dangerously along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City.

According to Bea Pinlac’s report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, the tricycle driver was driving fast while his sidecar was lifted off the ground.

A check by the LTO discovered additional violations: the tricycle does not have a plate number while plying along a national highway where it was not allowed

The Quezon City Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit was able to locate the 41-year-old suspect in the video. The driver claimed that his sidewheel was flat, hence, he drove his tricycle in such a way.

“Pinakamaganda ay gumilid at humingi ng tulong,” said Deputy Commander QCPD Traffic Sector 6 Police Lieutenant Charly Dela Cruz.

(The best thing to do would have been to pull over and ask for help.)

Although no one was reportedly hurt from the incident, authorities impounded the tricycle after it was found to be a colorum vehicle or does not have a franchise to operate as a public utility vehicle.

“Napag alaman namin na wala pong prankisa. So agad kaming nakipag ugnayan sa TRD or Tricycle Regulatory Division ng City Hall, at na-turn over namin ‘yung tricycle,” said Dela Cruz.

(We found out that it does not have a franchise. So we immediately coordinated with the TRD or Tricycle Regulatory Division of City Hall, and we turned over the tricycle.)

Authorities also flagged that the driver failed to present a driver’s license. The suspect also reportedly presented an expired certificate of registration. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
