Probe of vlogger Mima Alicia killing will look at 'every angle' - PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Sunday that the investigation into the killing of vlogger Alicia “Mima Alicia” Lipata is ongoing, with authorities looking into every angle to determine the motive behind the incident.

“Unang-una, ‘yung pagvo-vlog niya kung saan siya nakilala, tinitingnan po natin ‘yan, kanyang mga activities, ang kaniyang leanings… in other words, ‘yung political leanings. ‘Yun pong kaniyang negosyo, ‘yun pong kanyang private life,” PNP spokesperson P/Col. Allan Rae Co said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

“Kagaya nga po ng ating sinabi, wala po tayong dini-discount dito, tinitingnan po natin lahat. Any of these things could be the reason sa nangyari po na ito,” he added.

Lipata was a content creator known for her political commentary.

She was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants outside her home in Barangay 171, Caloocan City, early on July 17.

In response to the incident, the Northern Police District (NPD) has formed the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) “MIMA” to conduct an investigation into her death.

Co declined to give an update on the investigation into her death, raising the possibility of compromising the ongoing probe and manhunt for the suspects.

According to initial reports, Lipata and her partner had arrived at their home by car when two unidentified armed suspects approached them. The assailants shot Lipata at close range as she stepped out of the vehicle.

She was declared dead at the scene, while her partner was wounded in the attack.

Online, Lipata frequently discussed government issues and openly supported the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and was a vocal critic of Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies. —RF, GMA News
