MMDA: Number coding not suspended on July 27, 2026
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Sunday that it will not suspend the number coding scheme during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, 2026.
"Wala pong suspension na inannounce ng number coding," said MMA General Manager Nicolas Torre III in Super Radyo dzBB.
(There is no suspension of the number coding that was announced.)
For this year's SONA, the MMDA will deploy around 500 personnel along the Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City with its mobile command center set up near the Batasan Road.
"Sa mga traffic at saka pati yung mga road clearing natin, plus yung ating mga medical personnel, emergency, nasa 500 kami diyan," said Torre.
(For the traffic [management] as well as our road clearing, plus our medical and emergency personnel, there will be around 500 of us in the area.)
The MMDA earlier advised motorists to use alternate routes in Quezon City for Monday's SONA, noting that heavy traffic is expected along Commonwealth Avenue, IBP Road and other major thoroughfares adjacent to the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
Torre also said that a zipper lane is also being mulled along Commonwealth depending on the MMDA's assessment on Monday.
In a latest advisory, the MMDA said U- turn slots in front of the UP Technohub and Tandang Sora along Commonwealth Avenue are temporarily closed starting today until tomorrow, following the request of the Quezon City Police District.
Further, road clearing operations have been done in the past days ahead of SONA to clear obstructions.
"At itong lahat ng ito ay tapos na at medyo ito ay fine tuning na lang," said Torre.
