Cardinal Advincula approves petition for episcopal coronation of UST church patroness

Manila Archbishop Jose Advincula has approved the petition of the Santísimo Rosario Parish community for the episcopal coronation of the church's patroness Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario de la Universidad de Santo Tomás.

"The Decree of Episcopal Coronation was signed on 16 July 2026, the Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, marking a providential moment of grace for our parish," the parish community announced.

"The Solemn Episcopal Coronation will take place on 4 October 2026 at Santísimo Rosario Parish," they added.

Cardinal Advincula, in a decree approving the petition, said "Indeed, at the core of the University's mission of producing competent, committed, and compassionate persons committed to serve the Church, the nation, and the global community is the guidance and inspiration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mahal na Birhen ng Santisimo Rosario."

He also took note that the church's patroness is embraced by devotees outside the local Dominican community.

"In the parish community, her maternal embrace surrounds her people in Sampaloc who look up to her with filial trust and confidence. Even outside the University and Parish, devotees and pilgrims come to seek her intercession and experience her loving care and protection. Truly, she continues to be Mother and Teacher to all who entrust themselves and take refuge in the shadow of her mantle," the prelate said. — BAP, GMA News
