MRT-3 offers free Wednesday rides in August for National ID holders
The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on Friday announced free rides on select hours on Wednesdays for the month of August and on September 16, 2026 for commuters who present their National ID in line with the Global Identity Day.
In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 5, 12, 19, and 26. Free rides will also be available on September 16.
To avail, commuters will have to present their National ID whether physical, digital, or the ePhilID on paper format.
The DOTr said the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will also conduct National ID registration at the Araneta-Cubao and Taft Avenue stations of the MRT-3.
“Patuloy ang DOTr-MRT-3 sa pakikipagtulungan sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan upang makapagbigay ng mas maayos, maaasahan, at episyenteng serbisyo para sa bawat Pilipino, lalo na sa ating mga komyuter,” the advisory read.

The MRT-3 runs from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City. The first train leaves the north at 4:36 a.m. and the last departs at 9:30 p.m on weekdays, while the first train leaves Taft Avenue at 5:18 a.m., with the last leaving the station at 10:11 p.m. — Jon Viktor D.
