Makati hotel shooting leaves mother dead, daughter injured
A 63-year-old woman was killed while her 26-year-old daughter was injured after they were shot by an unidentified gunman outside a hotel in Makati City on Monday evening, police said on Tuesday.
Based on a police report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the fatality was identified only as "Annie," 63, while the injured victim was identified as her daughter, "Ayanna," 26.
Police said they received information about the shooting incident at around 6:55 p.m. and immediately dispatched investigators to the scene.
Responding officers found Annie's lifeless body lying face up near the entrance of the hotel. She had a gunshot wound in the lower part of her nose.
Ayanna sustained a gunshot wound to the face and was rushed by an ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Initial investigation showed that at around 6:46 p.m., Annie and Ayanna were walking along Durban Street toward the hotel.
As the two stood near the left side of the hotel's entrance, apparently waiting, an unidentified man wearing a ball cap approached from across the street and allegedly fired at them three times using an undetermined caliber of firearm.
The suspect then fled on foot, heading to Kalayaan Avenue.
