Workers' group rally vs TRO on P85 wage hike

Various labor groups protested outside the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) office in Intramuros, Manila on Friday to call out a Pasig court's decision issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the implementation of the P85 increase in the minimum wage in Metro Manila.

Members of the Nagkaisa Labor Coalition, Partido Manggagawa and Kilusang Mayo Una trooped to the DOLE office to stage the rally as they criticized Acting Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino over his supposed “weak response” on the TRO, according to Manny Vargas’ report over dzBB Super Radyo.

The groups also urged Tolentino to issue an objection to the ruling, saying it was a clear violation of the law.

Tolentino is expected to hold a dialogue with the rallyists later in the day, the report added.

In July, the Pasig Court granted the prayer of petitioners Readycon Trading and Construction Corp. and R-II Builders, Inc. for a TRO on the implementation of NCR Wage Order No. 27, "pending the resolution of the petition for declaratory relief." —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA News
