Supercar with fake plate results in LTO Show cause order vs 'actor'

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) to the owner of a supercar and its driver for allegedly using a fake license plate.

The LTO said the owner was an "actor," which it did not name.

"Sa isinagawang beripikasyon ng LTO, natukoy na ang plate number na ginagamit ng naturang sasakyan ay may ibang alphanumeric combination kumpara sa orihinal na motor vehicle license plate number na nakatalaga rito," LTO said in a statement.

(Upon verification conducted by the LTO, it was determined that the license plate number being used by the vehicle in question featured an alphanumeric combination different from the original motor vehicle license plate number assigned to it.)

"Kaugnay nito, inatasan ang rehistradong may-ari at itinalagang drayber na humarap sa Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) at magsumite ng beripikado o sinumpaang paliwanag kaugnay ng posibleng paglabag sa Use of Number Plate," it added.

(In this regard, the registered owner and the designated driver have been directed to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) and submit a verified or sworn explanation regarding the possible violation concerning the use of the number plate.)

LTO said that a 90-day preventive suspension has been imposed against the driver of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the said super vehicle has also been placed under an "alarm status" as LTO called on Law Enforcement Service (LES) to impound the car.

“Walang VIP sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Kahit sino pa ang sangkot, kapag napatunayang lumabag, haharap sa kaukulang pananagutan. Hindi magdadalawang-isip ang LTO na kumilos laban sa sinumang lalabag sa ating mga patakaran," LTO said.

(There are no VIPs in law enforcement. Regardless of who is involved, anyone proven to have committed a violation will face the corresponding accountability. The LTO will not hesitate to take action against anyone who violates our regulations.)

LTO also reminded the public to ensure that their vehicles are registered with legitimate documents before using it on public roads.

"Tinitiyak ng LTO na mahigpit nitong susuriin at aaksyunan ang mga paglabag upang mapanatili ang integridad ng sistema ng pagpaparehistro ng mga sasakyan at mapanagot ang sinumang mapatutunayang lumabag," assured the LTO.

(The LTO assures that it will strictly scrutinize and take action against violations to uphold the integrity of the vehicle registration system and hold accountable anyone proven to have committed a violation.) —VAL, GMA News
