Impeachment prosecutor Mae Divinagracia and her comfort cross go viral

Atty. Mae Divinagracia, one of the private prosecutors in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, conducted her direct examination of hostile witness Assistant Secretary Lemuel Ortonio while holding what appeared to be a wooden cross.

The "comfort cross" has since gone viral following the many short-form videos posted about it, after its noticeable presence while the prosecutor sought answers regarding the disbursement of confidential funds from the Vice President's deputy chief of staff.

“It is for comfort, clarity of mind when I am holding it,” Divinagracia told reporters on the sidelines of the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Divinagracia said it calms her down.

Comfort crosses fit the palm of one's hand and are smooth, without sharp edges. They are used as a tangible source of comfort during prayer or difficulty.
