7 hurt in 4 motorcycle-related accidents in Marikina, QC

MANILA, Philippines - Seven people were hurt in four separate road mishaps - all incidents involving a motorcycle - in Quezon City and Marikina City on Monday morning, a radio report said. In Marikina City , four people were hurt when a motorcycle carrying three people hit a pedestrian along Andres Bonifacio Avenue near the Marikina Public Market in Marikina City. The Marikina police said the riders of the motorcycle tried avoiding a speeding jeepney but instead rammed into a still unidentified pedestrian who was crossing the street. The three motorcycle riders, who were reportedly drunk, were identified as Ronald Santos, 25; Maura Dorina, 19; and Evelyn Esteban, 24. They were carrying but not wearing the helmets when the accident happened. The three, along with the wounded pedestrian, are undergoing treatment at the nearby Amang Rodriguez Hospital. In Quezon City , three people were hurt in three separate motorcycle accidents, the radio report added. The first motorcycle mishap happened near Barangay Batasan Hills, another one occurred along Congressional Avenue, and the last one along Litex Road. Authorities said the road incidents were âself accidents" even as the three victims were not in serious conditions, and all undergoing treatment at the East Avenue Hospital. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
