Romualdez refuses to enter plea in P7.4 billion plunder case

Former Speaker and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez pleaded not guilty on the P7.4 billion plunder case filed against him and three others over his alleged links to the flood control mess.

Romualdez made the plea via videoconference from his detention in New Quezon City.

Ahead of Romualdez’s arraignment or the process to enter a plea, Sandiganbayan Third Division chairperson and Associate Justice Karl Miranda said they are many more persons deprived of liberty who have worse medical condition compared with Romualdez, who was confined in Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Philippine General Hospital due to existing heart and brain-related ailments before he was detained in his cell.

Romualdez is still in the infirmary of the New Quezon City jail. —VAL, GMA News
