PNP blocks 2 to 3 websites promoting violence amid school shootings

Two to three websites have been blocked in the Philippines for allegedly promoting real-world violence and online grooming amid recent school-related threats, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Allen Rae Co said the police coordinated with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and internet service providers for the blocking of the websites.

“We have already coordinated with the NTC for the blocking of certain websites espousing real world violence. And the response was positive, meron na pong mga blinock na ibang websites,” Co said at a press briefing.

“As far as we know ay nasa mga dalawa o tatlo,” he added.

Co declined to identify the concerned websites as this move could generate more interest in the online platforms.
