PH Army denies alleged drone strike vs BIFF combatants as seen in online video

The Philippine Army on Tuesday denied using a drone to carry out a strike against Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) combatants following the circulation of a video on social media.

At a press briefing, Philippine Army chief Lieutenant General Donald Gumiran pointed out that the video circulating online had not been properly validated.

“As to the posted video which we have yet to verify, I am going to direct the commander of the 6th Infantry Division to conduct an inquiry or investigation as far as that issue is concerned,” he said.

“So again, I would like to deny that we did not do that. We will never employ or we do not have capabilities such as that,” he added.

Gumiran said the Philippine Army is very strict with the use of drone, only for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. — BAP, GMA News
