NBI offered lie detector test for Zaldy Co's 18 ex-bodyguards —Matibag

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously asked the former aides of former lawmaker Zaldy Co if they wanted to undergo a lie detector test amid their claims of cash delivery to various personalities, Director Melvin Matibag said Wednesday.

He issued the remark when asked why the 18 individuals did not undergo the test after a former cop who claimed to deliver cash to Vice President Sara Duterte and others underwent a lie detector test.

“Inalok naman namin sa kanila ‘yun. Tinanong namin. But, hindi tayo dumating sa punto na ‘yung 18 marines nagpa-lie detector test,” he said in an ambush interview.

(We offered that to them. We asked them. But we did not reach the point where the 18 Marines took a lie detector test.)

Matibag said this became a lesson for the NBI that witnesses should undergo the test.

To recall, the bodyguards previously claimed that they delivered suitcases of cash to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., former Speaker and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez, and others.

However, in August, four of the 18 signed affidavits recanting their allegations. They said they just wanted to live quietly, adding there are threats to their lives. —VAL, GMA News
