Baby girl dies after drinking silver cleaner

MANILA, Philippines - A one-year-old girl died after drinking a bottle of silver cleaner she mistook for water in their house in Manila's Tondo district. Radio dzBB reported early Wednesday that Katherine Abiso, one year and four months, turned pale after drinking the liquid left on the table by her parents. Her parents, who took her to the Tondo Medical Center, said they may have left behind the bottle of silver cleaner on the table as they were busy moving their belongings. They said they were moving at the time to a new apartment unit on the third floor of the permanent housing building in Balut, Tondo. Initial investigation showed Katherine thought the liquid was water, and drank it, but quickly turned pale.
