Sara Duterte's defense explains Mans Carpio's credit card purchases

The defense panel of Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday placed on the record of the impeachment court the circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of pesos worth of transactions incurred by her husband, Atty. Manases "Mans" Carpio, using his credit card.

Prosecution witness, Atty. Alex Cabrera, a forensic financial analyst, has testified about Carpio having a bill of 489,000 Japanese yen at a restaurant in Ginza, single purchases worth over P205,000 and P93,000 from the Nike store in SM Davao; and P256,000 at the Nike Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur.

"Are you aware, sir, that this expense was incurred by a large group with Manases Carpio…while he was traveling with his companion? And are you aware that the reason for this is that the members of this group have no available Japanese yen with them? That's why they had to use the credit card of Manases Carpio,” Ferrer said.

Cabrera replied, “I am not aware.”

Ferrer then went on to ask again if Cabrera was aware that credit card shoe purchases were made for the purpose of providing sports apparel and other items to the basketball team of Carpio’s son.

Cabrera also answered, “Not aware of that.” –NB, GMA News
