Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday stressed her intention to run for president in 2028, saying the impeachment trial has given her a chance to be scrutinized by the electorate.

At a news briefing, Duterte thanked the public for her continued high ratings despite what she called were instances of defamation and accusations against her.

Asked if she was still decided to run in 2028, Duterte said, "Yes."

"Kaya nga, in one way, nakikita ko as a blessing 'yung impeachment trial dahil diyan ay makikilatis at mas ma-scrutinize na ng mga tao 'yung mga katanungan nila sa pagkatao ko," Duterte said.

(In a way, I see the impeachment trial as a blessing because it is a way for people to scrutinize who I am.)

"At nagpapasalamat ako sa Philippine Chamber dahil simula 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, hanggang ngayon ay iniimbitahan pa rin nila ako at nakikinig pa rin sila sa mensahe ko," she added.

(I thank the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry because from 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 until now, they continue to invite me and listen to my message.)

Duterte warned of fraud and black propaganda in the 2028 elections if it pushes through.

She has claimed that there are moves for a no-election scenario.

“Kung matutuloy man ang 2028 national elections, expect ninyo na 'yung dayaan diyan at expect ninyo na tutuloy-tuloy 'yung tinatawag nilang black propaganda,” said Duterte.

(If the 2028 national elections do push through, expect election fraud there and expect that what they call black propaganda will continue.)
