More than 1,000 special permits have been issued to several public utility vehicles (PUVs) amid the expected influx of passengers this Undas break, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Sunday.

"Marami na po. In fact, nasa around 1,200 to 1,300 there about po na na-issue na special permits, units na po 'yun," said LTFRB acting chairperson Greg Pua, Jr. in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB.

(There are already many. In fact, around 1,200 to 1,300 special permits have been issued to individual units.)

The LTFRB said the special permits were issued to buses, mini buses and passenger vans.

"May mga bus, mini bus, may mga van din po," said Pua.

(There are buses, mini-buses, and also vans.)

While there were more special permits issued this year, the LTFRB is expecting more units to apply.

"I heard po yung mga samahan ng mga provincial buses, inup na po nila yung kanilang mga advanced bookings at online bookings, so malalaman na po nila kung kulang pa po yung kanilang mga buses. We expect pa po until next week, siguro, marami pang applications na masa-submit," said Pua.

(I heard the provincial bus groups have already opened their advance and online bookings, so they will be able to determine if they still lack buses. We still expect more applications to be submitted, probably until next week.)

The agency said there will LTFRB desks in some bus stations to accommodate more special permit applications.

"Nandoon po kami sa mga terminal para kung sakaling mayroon po yung mga kulang pa, makapag-issue kami agad," said Pua.

(We will be stationed at the terminals so that if there are still shortages, we can issue permits immediately.)
