40 subpoenas issued in P3-B shabu smuggling from Laos case
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has issued 40 subpoenas in the attempted smuggling of P3.5 billion of illegal drugs from Laos into the Philippines.
In a "24 Oras" report on Wednesday, the police issued the subpoenas to the 11 persons of interest named by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the case.
One of them was former Bangsamoro Parliament member Edriezan Hadji Nasser Rimbang, the alleged financier of the operation.
The attempted shipment of the drugs on a private plane cost around P11 million.
Authorities are still looking for four out of the 11 persons of interest, as they were using fake addresses.
Meanwhile, the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs has also summoned DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isagani R. Nerez for a preliminary briefing. —Jean Mangaluz/LDF, GMA News
