The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has started inspecting transport terminals across Metro Manila ahead of the expected surge of travelers heading to the provinces for All Saints’ Day, reminding bus operators to screen only age-appropriate content.

The spot inspections aim to ensure that films and other video content shown on buses comply with regulations, particularly as families and children are expected to travel during the Undas holiday.

MTRCB chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto urged transport terminals and operators to cooperate with the agency to ensure that content shown during trips is suitable for younger passengers.

“Hinihikayat namin ang kooperasyon ng mga transport terminals at operators nang masiguro natin na angkop mapanood ng mga batang pasahero ang mga ipapalabas sa mga bus habang sila ay pauwi ng probinsya para sa Undas,” Sotto said.

Under MTRCB Memorandum Circular No. 03-2024, or the “Rules Governing the Public Exhibition of Motion Picture and/or Trailers in Common Carriers and Other Public Places,” public utility vehicles may screen only films and trailers classified as General Audience (G) or Parental Guidance (PG).

The rules cover jeepneys, buses, vans, rail transport, taxis, passenger ships, ferry boats and commercial airplanes.

A G rating means a film is suitable for viewers of all ages, while a PG rating means younger viewers should be supervised by a parent or guardian.

During the inspections, MTRCB personnel reminded drivers and operators to ensure that all content shown to passengers complies with the prescribed classifications.

The inspections will continue through October 29, 2026.

The inspection and information campaign covers transport hubs in Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Pasay, Parañaque, Quezon City, Taguig, Manila, Caloocan and Valenzuela, as well as Bocaue, Bulacan.—LDF, GMA News
