MIAA vows turnover of CCTV to NNIC in November after Dizon rebuke
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday promised to complete the turnover of the CCTV surveillance system to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's (NAIA) private management by November 2026.
This comes hours after Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon lashed out at airport officials for failing to turn over the security camera system to the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC). Dizon gave the officials until November to complete the turnover before people start getting fired.
"MIAA has already completed the final acceptance of the CCTV project and initiated the necessary arrangements for its formal turnover to NNIC in accordance with the NAIA Public-Private Partnership Concession Agreement," the agency said in a statement.
"MIAA is committed to working closely with NNIC to resolve the outstanding matters and complete the turnover within the period directed by the Secretary," it added.
The MIAA explained that it already initiated the turnover and acceptance agreement. It is also continuing CCTV repair and restoration efforts.
Earlier in the day, Dizon reprimanded the airport officials for failing to take responsibility over the CCTV matter after a theft was reported, especially since he already ordered the turnover a year ago during his initial stint as secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Dizon was then appointed into the Department of Public Works and Highways, with Giovanni Lopez replacing him as Transport Secretary. Dizon and Lopez were switched Cabinet posts last Monday, with the former assuming his role as DOTr Secretary once more. — VDV, GMA News
