PDP-Laban holds indignation rally outside SC for Rodrigo Duterte, Bato dela Rosa
Despite rainy weather, members and supporters of political party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) gathered outside the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday morning.
The group held an indignation rally calling for the swift resolution of cases involving former President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Ronald "Bato” dela Rosa.
“Hindi alintana ang ulan, patuloy ang pagdating at pagtitipon ng mga kababayan natin sa harap ng Korte Suprema ngayong Martes ng umaga, November 3, para sa isang Indignation Rally,” PDP-Laban said.
(Despite the rain, our countrymen continue to arrive and gather in front of the Supreme Court this Tuesday morning, November 3, for an Indignation Rally.)
“Sa kabila ng masamang panahon, tuloy ang pagpapahayag ng kanilang paninindigan” it added.
(Despite the bad weather, they continue to express their stance.
PDP-Laban is set to submit a letter to the SC reiterating its appeal for an immediate ruling on the cases.
'Delays'
In an open letter issued on October 31 and signed by acting chairman Alfonso Cusi, the political party urged the SC to resolve the legal questions surrounding Duterte and Dela Rosa, saying prolonged delays could further fuel uncertainty and instability.
PDP-Laban questioned the alleged procedural delays in the cases, noting that a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of Duterte had remained pending before the high tribunal for nearly 600 days.
It also called for the immediate resolution of Dela Rosa's pending motion for reconsideration.
Duterte was arrested by Philippine authorities in Pasay City and was handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on March 11, 2025.
He was flown via a chartered plane to The Hague, where he will be tried for crimes against humanity in relation to his bloody war on drugs while he was mayor of Davao City and President of the Philippines.
The trial is scheduled to begin on November 30, 2026.
Dela Rosa is also wanted by the ICC as he is accused of being a co-perpetrator in the alleged crimes.
A P50-million reward is being offered for information that would lead to the senator’s arrest. —VAL, GMA News
