‘Igme’ death toll rises to 7 - NDCC


MANILA, Philippines - The death toll from Typhoon "Igme" (International name: Fung-Wong) rose to seven after figures from Cordillera and Ilocos were updated, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Wednesday. In its report dated 6 p.m. Tuesday but posted on its website Wednesday afternoon, the NDCC also said two others were injured while at least three remain missing. NDCC identified the fatalities as Loreto Biadad and Michael Balatibot (Ilocos Norte); Rogelio Viloria (Ilocos Sur); Edwin Montemayor (La Union); Ismael Gayban, Dale Malaggay and Anna Balweg (Abra). The injured were identified as Danilo Prio (Ilocos Norte) and Bilis Balweg (Abra). Still missing were Jimmy Biala (Ilocos Norte), Erick dela Cruz (Ilocos Sur), and Gemma Malaggay (Abra). At least 4,941 families or 22,079 persons in 93 villages in 17 towns and two cities in three provinces in Ilocos and Cordillera were affected. Of these, 97 families or 444 persons are in six evacuation centers. Estimated cost of damage to property amounted to P1.894 million. Five houses were destroyed and two were damaged. The NDCC said the Cadcadir-Kabugao Road and parts of Cagayan and other areas along Basco-IUMNAJRU Road in Batanes remained closed due to landslides. In Cordillera, the wooden bridge at Subagan village in Licuan-Bay was washed out. - - GMANews.TV
