MANILA, Philippines - Hours after being forced to cut short its operations due to a motel fire, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 went back to normal Monday afternoon. LRT administration operations manager Felix Leyson said the LRT-1 was allowed to resume full operations but will still not stop at the Carriedo station. "Bumalik na kami sa normal operations. Di pa kami nagpapasakay at nagpapababa sa Carriedo (We have resumed normal operations but our coaches will not load or unload passengers at Carriedo)," Leyson said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said operations were back to normal as of 4:30 p.m. The LRTA earlier halved operations after a fire hit the Good Earth Plaza building that houses a motel and several stalls selling electronics and jewelry. Leyson said that while the resumption of operations will benefit employees and students at rush hour, they still could not stop at Carriedo due to the thick smoke. "Medyo unsafe, baka pagbukas ng pintuan mahigop ng aircon ang usok. (It's still unsafe to stop because the air-conditioning may absorb the smoke if the coaches stop at Carriedo)," he said. - GMANews.TV
