MANILA, Philippines - A 10-month-old baby escaped death after his mother threw him out of harm's way in a vehicular accident in Manila, dzBB radio reported early Thursday. Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that the baby was rushed to the Ospital ng Maynila only for minor scratches while his mother was killed after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle driven by PO2 Reynaldo Ortiz of the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (Pacer). Ortiz got down from his SUV with plate number ZTC-591 and immediately surrendered to responding policemen. He faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide. Initial investigation showed Ortiz was cruising along Taft Avenue in Malate when the mother crossed the street. Ortiz said he could not stop the vehicle in time. The SUV hit Jocelyn, who died before she could be brought to the hospital. However, Jocelyn managed to throw the baby out of harm's way before the SUV hit her. - GMANews.TV
