MANILA, Philippines - Operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 were disrupted for the second time in two weeks, this time following a fire that hit a mall in Baclaran Sunday night. Radio dzBB reported early Monday that the LRT cut off operations in its Baclaran terminal, with the LRT-1 operations limited to between Monumento and EDSA stations. As of 5 a.m., radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that the fire was still at Task Force Foxtrot, with firefighters still trying to determine the source of the fire. The report said firefighters had to break glass windows to let smoke out. Smoke was visible from Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Roxas Boulevard, the report added. On the other hand, police and village watchmen arrested several males for attempting to loot from many of the stalls inside the establishment. It was the second time in the last two weeks that a fire disrupted LRT-1 operations. Last week, a fire at the Good Earth Plaza in downtown Sta. Cruz forced the LRT-1 to bypass its Carriedo station, causing some P700,000 in lost income. - GMANews.TV
