National Artist Lucrecia Kasilag passes away at 90

MANILA, Philippines - National Artist for Music Lucrecia R. Kasilag died of pneumonia Saturday night, a GMA flash report said Sunday. Kasilag, 90, was a composer and a leader in music education. She has over 250 compositions and earned recognition for using indigenous musical instruments. Some of her major works were “Love Songs," “Legend of the Sarimanok," “Sisa," “Philippine Scenes" and “East Meets Jazz Ethnika." Kasilag, known as the First Lady of Philippine Music, was named National Artist for Music in 1989.- GMANews.TV
