Alvarez named presidential adviser on climate change

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday announced the appointment of former environment secretary Heherson Alvarez as presidential adviser on global warming and climate change. Alvarez, a political ally of President Gloria and husband of National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Executive Director Cecile Guidote Alvarez, was at one time a senator and a representative of the province of Isabela. He had also served as presidential adviser on overseas Filipino communities and adviser on agrarian reform. - GMANews.TV
