Pagasa: Typhoon ‘Marce’ weakens further

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Marce" (Sinlaku) weakened further Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. In its final bulletin on "Marce," Pagasa said the cyclone was 530 km north of Basco, Batanes or 60 km north-northeast of Taipei, Taiwan as of 4 p.m. "Marce" packed maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph and was moving north at 9 kph. By Monday morning it is expected to be 650 km north of Basco, Batanes or 150 km north of Taipei, Taiwan. Pagasa's gale warning as of 5 p.m. said "a surge of southwest monsoon is expected to affect the seaboard of Northern Luzon." The sea condition is rough to very rough. It said fishing boats and other small seacrafts are not advised to venture into the sea. Bigger seacrafts, on the other hand, are alerted against moderate to high waves. Wave heights is expected to reach 3.70 to 5.50 meters, Pagasa said. - GMANews.TV
