Cops arrest 2 power thieves in Navotas

MANILA, Philippines - Police have arrested two men in Navotas City after catching them tapping into a power line of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to make an illegal electrical connection. Radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported that the two suspects, initially identified as Jaime Alcantara and Rommel Pisante, face charges for violating the anti-power pilferage act. The two were also caught on cell phone video, according to police who said they received complaints from Meralco inspectors about the illegal power connections. Seized from the two suspects were five meters of galvanized wire, meters of copper wire, pliers and a ladder. - GMANews.TV
