The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said the peace and order situation around the country was generally peaceful, but that could quickly change any time. PNP chief Director Gen. Arturo Lomibao said he will talk to his ground commanders about their assessment of police anti-crime initiatives. President Arroyo on Wednesday morning instructed the PNP, along with the departments of justice and national defense, to submit assessment reports within 24 to 72 hours. She will base her decision to lift Proclamation 1017, which placed the country under a state of national emergency, on the three reports.-GMANews.TV
