MANILA, Philippines â âOne hundred percent complete hogwash." That was Senator Loren Legardaâs reaction to entertainment reportersâ question about her rumored affair with Sen. Edgardo Angara. âThe Angara issue? This is an old 2004 issue, which is 100 percent complete hogwash, recycled hogwash. Diyos ko, pambihira naman galing na nga ako sa matanda e pupulutin ako sa mas matanda," Legarda told GMA Newsâ Ruth Cabal, whose report was aired on 24 Oras Thursday. Legarda issued the denial during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Luntiang Pilipinas, a movement advocating for the protection of the environment. The senator, apparently one of the âpresidentiables" in 2010 elections, also launched her own Web site at the event. Legarda was the former wife of ex-Batangas Governor Jose Antonio Leviste, who is accused of killing his aide Rafael de las Alas. Despite her daily TV infomercials denouncing govenrment graft and corruption, Legarda remained silent about her plans for 2010. âWhether tumakbo ako sa 2010 ay magpapatuloy ang aking adbokasya para sa kalikasan," she stressed. (My advocacy will continue regardless of my plans for 2010.) Aside from Legarda, Sens. Mar Roxas and Richard Gordon have also put up their own Web site and social networking site Friendster in bid to tap the cyber community. Like Senate President Manny Villar who already announced his plan to run for president, Gordon said he might throw his hat in the political ring. But political analyst Ramon Casiple, executive director of the Institute for Political and Electoral Reforms, said the posturing of so-called presidentiables at this time is not really aimed at courting votes but getting the attention of financiers and local leaders. âIto ang panahon na ang mga financier at mga pulitiko sa ibaba ay nag-iisip-isip na kung saan sila maglalagay ng pera nila at mga boto na dala nila," Casiple said. - GMANews.TV
