Three persons were killed while 20 others were injured when a pile of mud buried midnight Sunday a passenger bus along the highway of Aurora town in Zamboanga del Sur province, GMA network’s Flash Report said. The report said continuous heavy downpour triggered the landslide which affected the villages of Anonang and Romarate. As of posting time, rescue operations were still ongoing for the other passengers trapped inside the air-conditioned bus which was en route to Iligan City from Pagadian City at the time of the incident. Rescue teams from the local government of Zamboanga del Sur and the Philippine Army have been dispatched to the area. On Sunday night, more than 700 residents were rendered homeless, while hundreds of commuters were stranded, after continuous heavy rains also triggered landslides at a residential area in Lanao del Norte province. On Thursday last week, flash floods in Sarangani town in Davao del Sur province also claimed the lives of at least two people while at least three others remain still missing. The victims were all members of the Dawa family. Sarangani town Mayor Jerry Cawa had declared a state of calamity in the area. -GMANews.TV
