MANILA, Philippines - A second suspected robber who was wounded earlier in an encounter with police in Quezon City's Commonwealth district succumbed to his wounds Friday afternoon, a television report said. GMA's Flash Report said Quezon City police deputy for operations Senior Superintendent Federico Laciste Jr as saying police confirmed the death of the suspect, who was the companion of another unidentified suspect who was killed on the spot during a shootout earlier in the day. Other suspects are still being sought by the police. Laciste said the shootout occurred between the suspects' group and a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team shortly before noon Friday. The report said the SWAT team confronted the group after receiving information that some men were acting suspiciously. Laciste said police were just nearing the area when the suspects began firing at them. Police chased but failed to capture the other suspects, who were aboard a motorcycle and a blue Starex van. The vehicles were last seen in the north Fairview and upper Caloocan City area, the report said. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
