1 injured in blast near Manila Domestic Airport
A 37-year-old driver was injured after an explosive, believed to be a pillbox, went off Tuesday night at a parking lot near the Manila Domestic Airport in Pasay City, radio reports said. Initial police investigation showed that the explosive was left by two motorcycle-riding men, whom witnesses saw flee the scene after the blast. The injured was identified as Dante Toca, who was rushed to a nearby hospital after debris hit his nape. Police investigators said the incident took place at about 8:30 p.m. at a parking lot at the Airport City Mall near the Manila Domestic Airport. Law enforcers are still trying to determine the motive behind the incident. The explosion took place barely two weeks after airport and police authorities beefed up security following the British government's announcement it foiled a terrorist plot to blow up jetliners. That announcement prompted beefed-up security in key facilities in Metro Manila, including airports, seaports and bus terminals.-GMANews.TV
