Caloocan jail tightens security for Christmas

MANILA, Philippines - Jail officials in Caloocan City have tightened security at the city jail to prevent the possibility of "Christmas Day escapes," a radio report said Monday. Radio dzBB's Bernie Morales reported that city Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) officials ordered jail guards to be on alert in guarding their inmates. The BJMP particularly ordered stricter inspection of visitors to inmates to make sure they do not bring in restricted items, including illegal drugs and weapons. It added that while jail guards are entitled to a Christmas break, it does not mean that loose security will be tolerated. - GMANews.TV
