‘Bising’ slows down; 15 areas under signal 1

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical depression "Bising" slowed down as it moved closer to the eastern coast of Surigao del Norte early Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. Pagasa, in its 5 a.m. advisory, said "Bising" was 45 km east-southeast of Surigao City as of 4 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center. It was moving west at 7 kph and is expected to be east of Tagbilaran City by Saturday morning; 110 km south of Iloilo City by Sunday morning; and 180 km east-northeast of Puerto Prinsesa in Palawan by Monday morning. Areas under Storm Signal No. 1 include Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Biliran Island, Leyte Provinces, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Siquijor Island, Dinagat Province, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Camiguin and Misamis Oriental. "Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under Signal No. 1 are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides," Pagasa said. Meanwhile, Pagasa said Eastern and Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao will experience rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms. Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast and East will prevail over Eastern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the northeast and northwest with slight to moderate seas.- GMANews.TV
