MANILA, Philippines - The ambush of a Land Transportation Office (LTO) executive Tuesday morning was likely work-related, Quezon City police said. Quezon City Police District head Chief Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said Camilo Guarin had no known personal enemies, prompting them to consider the work-related angle. "Walang threat. Malalim na iimbestigahan natin, baka lang related ito sa trabaho niya as LTO chief sa Pasig [He received no threat. We're looking deeper into this. It is likely related to his work as LTO chief of Pasig]," Gatdula said in an interview on dzRH radio. "Napakabait na tao si Guarin [Guarin was described as a very nice guy]," he added. Citing initial reports reaching him, Gatdula said unidentified armed men ambushed Guarin in Doña Carmen Subdivision in Quezon City at about 8:30 a.m. He said the suspects casually walked away after shooting Guarin. He said an analysis of the crime scene indicated the suspects used cal-.45 pistols. "Isa medyo fatal ang wound, tumagos sa liver [One of the wounds was potentially fatal because the bullet went through the liver]," he said. Gatdula said they plan to talk to Guarin's driver to see if he got a good look at the suspects. Guarin was on his way to work in his Mitsubishi Adventure service vehicle (SHF-302) when three armed men shot him in Doña Carmen Subdivision. - GMANews.TV
