MANILA, Philippines - A still unidentified woman was seriously hurt after being shot inside her vehicle at the Ortigas area in Pasig City on broad daylight Tuesday. The woman was shot on the right side of her body and was still strapped on her seat belt at the driver side of her white RAV4 vehicle (XPE 377) when the shooting happened. The incident happened before 11 a.m. in Barangay (village) San Antonio, along Julio Vargas corner Lanuza street, toward Meralco Avenue, according to Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen. The report quoted village authorities who first rushed to the site as saying that the woman had no pulse. But Senior Inspector 1 Rogelio Baltazar, officer on case, was quoted as saying that they later detected a "weak" pulse. "Nung kinuhaan namin ng second pulse, may pulso pa pala kaya sinugod na namin sa ospital [We rushed her to the hospital after detecting a pulse on our second attempt]," Baltazar said. The woman was rushed to the nearby Medical City Hospital. The Pasig City Police quoted bystanders who witnessed the shooting as saying the suspect was a motorcycle-riding man, who fled the scene after the attack. "Ang gunman nasa kabilang kalsada sa opposite diection. Mag-isa lang siya at medyo lumuwag ang traffic kaya nakalusot siya [The gunman, driving a motorcycle, came from the opposite side of the street and he was able to flee after the traffic eased a bit]," Baltazar said. Baltazar said the assailant shot at the victim's vehicle three times. Slugs of a 45-caliber were retrieved from the crime scene. A separate report also said that Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel Lilibeth Coronado and Eric Gutierrez sustained cuts in their arms after trying to smash the glass window of the vehicle. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
