A serene Kris Aquino-Yap delivered a heartfelt message for her mother, the late President Corazon “Cory" Aquino, in a video aired over an entertainment program Sunday afternoon. In the tribute video that was aired over “The Buzz," Kris thanked her mother for all the help and guidance she extended to her. “You [Mrs. Aquino] always managed to make me feel like a winner. For as long as you are around, mom, somehow, everything will be okay," she said. Mrs. Aquino died last August 1 at the Makati Medical Center after more than a year of battling colon cancer. She was buried next to her husband, slain Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City last August 5. In the video, Kris, the youngest of five siblings, said it was from her mother that she learned the value of hard work. She said her mom had taught her to be diligent and to always give your 100 percent in everything. She said it was also her mother who taught her how to be a good parent. “Taking care of the kids sometimes means not taking care of yourself," Kris recalled Mrs. Aquino saying. Kris said that for her mother, family is paramount. “No performance, no show, no award, no elected office can ever mean as much as when your loved ones are with you to share the recognition and the pride," was the advice her mother shared to her once, Kris said. Being a devout Catholic, another value that the late President left her children, according to Kris, was the belief that “the first and the best thing to do in any situation is to turn to God." - GMANews.TV
