110 dead, P2.927 billion lost to Milenyo - NDCC
The official death toll of typhoon Milenyo Wednesday stood at 110 persons dead, 88 wounded and 79 missing while damage to property was placed at P2.927 billion. The government figures were released by the National Disaster Control Center 6 a.m. and posted at its website. Milenyo, the same report said, ripped through seven regions, 19 provinces, 31 cities, 179 municipalities and 2,446 barangays and affected 393,533 families or about 1,950,739 persons. It totally destroyed 56,778 houses while partially damaging 151,644 others. Damaged to property was pegged at P2.927 billion broken into P970.032 million for infrastructure, P1.838 billion for agriculture and another P118.736 million school buildings. The NDCC said that Meralco has been able to restore 99% of power in regions 3, 4, 5, 6,8 and Metro Manila however it described power supply in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Masbate as "partly restored". Catanduanes, it added, already has power but Sorsogon still has no power provincewide. Communication facilities such as cellphones, Bayantel/Digitel in Region V, the NDCC said in the same report, are "partly operational except long distance." -GMANews.TV
