Ex-police chief Nazareno passes away
Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Cesar Nazareno died of an aneurysm early Monday morning at the Medical City in Pasig. Nazareno, 65, served in 1991-92 as the first Director General of the PNP when it was organized as a civilian institution that replaced the Philippine Constabulary-Integrated National Police (PC-INP). "I have high regard and respect for General Nazareno as a commander with the finest leadership qualities and a brand of patriotrism that is beyond question," said present PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon, the 13th to assume the post. Nazarenoâs remains were brought to the PNP headquartersâ multi-purpose hall at Camp Crame in Quezon City. He was a product of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1961. -GMANews.TV
