Rains that fell on parts of Metro Manila early Saturday are not due to a cyclone, even as state weather forecasters said an inter-tropical convergence zone is likely to bring rains to Mindanao. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said residents in Luzon can expect isolated light rains. "Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Visayas will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms while Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. It also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northeast with slight to moderate to seas. Earlier this week, PAGASA marked the entry of tropical depression "Amang," the first cyclone in Philippine territory this year. But "Amang" streaked away from Philippine territory and only indirectly caused rains in some parts of the country. — LBG, GMA News
